MA to spend around 100 million for school meals. This is so there will be no direct costs to the student for food while at school. There has been full price lunch, 1/2 price lunch and no cost lunch depending on student status. As I understand it, that has been the process for a long time. Under new provisions by the state, the cost of the meals will come from state budget (our tax dollars) and as i see it, it is a good thing.

So, is this socialism? Consider every city and town in the commonwealth of Ma receives state aid in the form of unrestricted general governmental aid (ugga) and then there is chapter 70 funding which is tax dollars distributed to school districts (fair or unfairly) then there is gas tax and chapter 90 funding, which is really just more debt for the state (us) because chapter 90 (road money) is a yearly bonding bill (can you say borrow money) so I view this meals program as just another return of some of our tax dollars that we sent to the statehouse each year. FY24 ugga to Templeton, around 1.9 million dollars, so if Templeton residents are opposed to socialism, then I suppose we could have a town meeting vote to not accept ugga funds, or chapter 90 funds.

The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money to spend. Massachusetts has a serious outflow of tax payers who are moving to other states.

The biggest decline was in Suffolk County, which lost 9,044 residents as a result of net migration — or the number of people who moved to the state minus those who moved away, according to the data. Suffolk lost 18,424 people to domestic migration but gained 9,390 through international migration, the data shows.

    Domestic migration = losing taxpayers
International migration = gaining welfare recipients

  5. From 2021 -2022 for every 100 movers 56 were moving out while 44 were moving in.

This is "since Covid". So is that remote work, home prices, people looking for more space?

You did mean gaining more "Americans" right, cause last I read its what is said on our welcome matt!
Why are immigrants welfare recipients? Aren't all American immigrants?

So what is Governor Healey complaining about? Massachusetts spends $45 million a month on hotels for illegal immigrants. Why should we spend more housing illegals that the average Social Security benefit?

The 45 million figure is total for programs that house homeless and migrants and families displaced.

Social Security is a Federal Program being threatened again by one of the political propaganda machines.......but it should be done away with anyway as it it socialism, right Annon?
