Okay, according to some, Templeton taxpayers saved $7,000.00 by being asked to vote for one thing and then end up paying for something else. Should taxpayers be happy with the savings, yet be upset with being the switch?

As selectmen Fortes said and is quoted in the snews, "I agree with the purchase but not the process"

So, if this lawn tractor is such a good deal, why did the company not suggest it in the first place, I mean it seems like a great way to build a customer base; showing a perhaps unknowledgeable customer how to get a machine that will do what you want it to and then some and save you money.

Looks like a department did not do enough research. Moving forward, how is anything presented to town meeting to be trusted, as in, is this one tone truck with a plow and wing really best for the job it is "sold" as doing. (as in sold or presented to the voters in order to get money for it)

I did see that trying to compare an infield groomer to the lawn tractor purchased was "it is really comparing apples to oranges comparing one machine to another" (that is from Padula Brothers John Deere dealership.)

Newspaper states new lawn tractor costs $16,311.00. I wonder what the bids came in at dollar wise?

Page 177 of spending plan lists infield groomer with a requested amount of $22,000.00*

* = moved to Capital

page 273 of the spending plan  shows Capital; FY 2019 request of $15,000.00 for infield groomer

page 273 of spending plan shows Capital; FY 2019 T/A approved of $15,000.00 for infield groomer

page 274 of spending plan shows spread sheet for Capital:

DPW / B&G - defer  - infield groomer/ $5,000.00 from TMLWP and $10,000.00 from free cash or overlay.

*TMLWP = Templeton Municipal Light & Water Plant.
Meeting minutes from TMLWP of March 6, 2018 show the TMLWP commissioners voting to "donate" $5,000.00 towards infield groomer for Templeton.

Article 30 from the May 2018 annual Town Meeting voters guide shows a capital item as Infield Groomer for $10,000.00.

So, the news paper has the lawn tractor at $16,311.00 and between the light department and town meeting vote, there is $15,000.00 voted/appropriated for an infield groomer. Looking at the information in hand, where did that $7,000.00 savings come from again?

From what is on the town website and meeting minutes from TMLWP, is shows $15,000.00 voted and now the newspaper shows $16,311.00 spent?

Was/is this tractor switch up used to get eyes off of something else or is it just another Templeton goof by a board of selectmen that are not engaged in Templeton business?

  1. Dear idk anymore sad ! ,
Please do yourself a favor - instead of even giving Jeff Bennett, BOB M and others ( including myself ) stream of consciousness or unconsciousness in some instances OPEN TCTV and watch the videos with your own eyes and listen with your own ears then maybe ?? Go speak to someone at town hall if you have more questions or concerns.
Mr Fortes , voted in favor of the purchase and as I watched it the reason given was after explained to him in detail ; IF the purchase is LESS than appropriated ( what a concept ! BOB M ) and does the same function ( BOBM doesn’t belive this ) and charge of CaPItal PLanning is just that - PLANNING not PURCHASING. That being said - it’s a valid purchase and in this case a financially solid one - as now money for other projects or repairs etc are there if needed ( a new concept for Templeton ).
Mr Fortes often interjects with some comment that later is explained to him in detail and he then retracts any opposition ( Brazzel POND renaming as the most recent to this ). Mr Fortes is young and rightly so inexperienced in government.
To the stream of consciousness of why didn’t the dept or “why didn’t the dept do research ?”
Again ——TCTV ——“ Mr Mayo left as you know and left NO ..... written record of any discussion of what .... was needed specifically as in a specific price of equipment —— due diligence with Padula Brothers was done —- they had NO NONE record of a PO or even a note regarding anything that Alan Mayo wanted.
Knowing Mr Mayo a good and solid New England Yankee —-I feel he would approve the purchase of that John Deere. In fact google that John Deere - it’s a wonderful peice if versitle equipment that also goes with others in our small but productive fleet . #RunslikeaDEERE

    1. Mr Fortes Abstained!!!!! And Diane didn't understand the concept of rules shes about personalities. Mr Caplis is a wet noodle run by Carter and Doug doesn't have the nerve to stand on his own.

We'll see if the Inspector General feels it was valid.

Again, you take carter, who is a proven liar at his word. Alan came to capital planning with quotes on everything. He had a plan. It was discussed in detail.

Maybe if Carter had any interaction with the Management Fellow who represented him at the Capital PLanning meetings this issue wouldn't take place.
Carter is the ex-officio member of the capital Planning Committee who sent Eric. If he talked to Eric, or had a management plan this lack of paperwork wouldn't be an issue.
Again, this is a failing of management being paid for by taxpayers!

  2. by all means, go back and watch the meetings where the infield groomer was discussed and approved by the board of selectmen! Again, where did this savings of $7,000.00 come from because the numbers put together by the Town Administrator does not show that. The information, other than meeting minutes of the light department, is on the town web site. I took the time to look at that information and that is what I gathered from available information. There is a record of price for the equipment; the department budget request by the department head at the time, watch the meeting (s) So how is $16,311.00 less than $10,000.00? That is what Town Meeting voted on; Ten grand, not 16 thousand! I have emailed the above post to al selectmen and await their response of how is 16 thousand less than 10 thousand dollars? anyone? Meta data?

  3. Oh my bad ... he “ Abstained !!!!” How brave ! Sorry it was such a ridiculous comment made by Mr Fortes suggesting it go back to Capital planning for a vote ... I wonder how that would go ... let’s ask the chair Doug- better yet let’s not as he voted YES ...
BOB M A always bitching about government employees and taxes but totally wasting both their time and tax payers money. I will also add BOB Bennett to that list of failed miserabley “ watchdog of the taxpayers “ .

    1. Hey, it wasn't an uninformed YES like from John and Diane. Did Carter ask Doug, you know, the Chairman of Capital Planning for the info from Alan? I mean Doug is the Capital Planning Representative from Capital Planning. Why, since Doug knew is was up for a vote wouldn't he have the information with him? You saw him ask me right?
Did Carter ask Alan were the paperwork was? He has asked him ( based on statements recorded at meetings) for other things, why not this?

Face it, the Carter is doing whatever He wants because our BOS is asleep and ineffective. Yup, NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

  4. Doing some ruminating and I think this is a great place to put this. As I have a cup of tea and read BOBM and Jeff Bennett’s stream of consciousness.

  5. smartnuff coming here attempting to build an opinion, actively, that posters and commenters are fools, one sided, and that information here is incorrect or wasting time. In doing so, encouraging people to "watch the tctv" and see for yourself. "selectmen Fortes voted yes after an explanation, but that is not what happened and when this is pointed out to smarty, she goes into attack mode, hmmm, after complaining about that very same scenario, smartnuff does the exact same thing. justsmartnuff, me thinks, she is drinking too much coffee or tea. Perhaps stick to salad recipes.

  6. So, if I honestly mistakenly post something ... get corrected —- apologize for my mistake —- as its easily refuted ( see VI BOB M comment ) — Then all my comments - all the directions to specific web pages or articles that are factual and timely : are inaccurate.... yes seems the VILLAGE IDIOT BLOG press is up and running early today Mr Bennett —- enjoy your storm water run off well from the used car/ hazardous waste disposal areas around you this morning in your coffee or as I suspect tea.

  7. It is always coffee and we don't get storm runoff on a hill. It is like your front yard, everything goes down hill.

  8. Attention village idiots. ——- water comes from fractures in the bedrock in this area or .... like templetons shallow 50 foot wells mostly .... groundwater ( hence the GW1 ) which by the way Templeton is non compliant and has been sited.

  9. Here I thought water comes the sky in the form of rain then seeps into the ground where my 90 foot plastic tube brings it to the sink. Someone call Flinstone and tell em there is water in bedrock. Better get some crack sealer.

  11. Village smartypants says "water comes from fractures in the bedrock in this area" I think a "SCIENCE" Class is in order. Water comes from 2 molecules of Hydrogen combining with 1 molecule of Oxygen. No Rocks involved other than the ones Justsmartenuff is apparently smoking.

  12. OMG .... yes BOOBM that’s why hydrological scientists are called in to determine ground water aka well ( very deep ones too BOOBM ) that become contaminated by industrial waste sites sometimes BOOBM miles away from the source .

Dont you whine when people say they dont want a Nuerotoxin added to their water. I seem to remember you making fun of people wanting uncontaminated water. How many side of your mouth are there?

  13. Dear BOOBM,
I think perhaps whilst out spraying vinegar with an old windex bottle to counteract the government mind control chem trails some got in your eyes.
A town in this case our Templeton (pop >1,000) has paid government officials with police, fire, electrical, librarians and other officials. A village BOOBM does not likely have this level of government nor the in accompanying services.
Villages BOOBM are often tight affiliations of people who for one reason or another are distinct from a town which they either next to or in this case in particular within.
