Fiscal Year 2019 state budget proposal:

The governor’s budget would increase Chapter 70 education aid by 2.2 percent to $4.9 billion to ensure that every municipal and regional school district can reach the basic “foundation” level of spending and to continue to implement the “target share” equity provisions. The majority of districts would continue to receive the minimum increase of $20 per student.

School transportation
Gov. Baker’s budget submission would level-fund regional school student transportation reimbursements at $61.5 million, which would create a hardship for virtually all communities in regional districts. Reimbursements for transportation of out-of-district vocational students remains significantly underfunded at $242,000.

The governor’s budget would level-fund reimbursements for the transportation of homeless students under the federal McKinney-Vento law at $8.1 million. The impact of this funding level will vary from community to community, depending on the number of homeless families that remain sheltered in local hotels and motels.

I have a question. Why is it that people who support lower taxes for “ working class “ those concerned about people remaining in their homes when older, not having full public transportation funding, regional or state money ...Vote for those WHO CUT or increase money to levels not able to support these wonderful programs. Seems there is no concern over the tax breaks for millionaires Or corporations or those earning over 250,000. No concern over tariffs on raw materials causing potential results for profits - which translates into income, revenue and maybe 401k and Pensions contributions. No concern here with a potential gas tax on the federal end of 25cents ? By the party that cries for low taxes? No worry that instead of the state paying 25 % of costs for infrastructure the Federal GOP is wanting %75 of state money ?
I make a suggestion that the senior center have a program about myopic vision . This may help some of those who look at things in town.

  4. “ One thing from the past that all taxpayers should consider, just how does anyone think the town was going to end up with no real tax increases over the years when everything keeps going up, what were the people in charge doing or thinking when they said we have a balanced budget, no lay offs and no tax hikes. Just how do you run a business like that. You end up with no money in the bank, junk equipment, employees bail on you and your credit cards maxed out to keep afloat as long as possible, then the ship sinks. Think about that while you anonymous play "tag". My thoughts as a resident. “

Anon 10:01 - doesn't matter what the senior center has for programs. Nobody goes there because they're not interested.
