Certification (from an online open meeting law guide for Massachusetts)

Within two weeks of a member’s election or appointment or the taking of the oath of office, whichever occurs later, all members of public bodies must complete the attached Certificate of Receipt of Open Meeting Law Materials certifying that they have received these materials, and that they understand the requirements of the Open Meeting Law and the consequences of violating it. The certification must be retained where the public body maintains its official records. All public body members should familiarize themselves with the Open Meeting Law, the Attorney General’s regulations, and this Guide.
In the event a Certificate has not yet been completed by a presently serving member of a public body, the member should complete and submit the Certificate at the earliest opportunity to be considered in compliance with the law.

Seems pretty clear and I would expect that anyone working for a fortune 500 company who looks at or is involved in ensuring that regulations are followed, would be able to read the above and realize that one has 2 weeks to obtain, fill out and return the receipt of the open meeting guide/law.
To be in compliance with the LAW.

  1. It's a math problem. See to us 2 weeks is 14 days, but Selectman use different math. See to Selectman Fortune 500 really means Fortune 875, but that doesn't roll off the tongue so easily.

We are suppose to accept what we are told without question. Not going to happen! Do Ethics require facts in a fortune 875 company?

  2. Interim town administrator contract extended
TEMPLETON - Interim Town Administrator Carter Terenzini, whose current contract was scheduled to end by June 30, has again agreed to stay on in his temporary post in Templeton — this time for only one month, until Aug. 1.

I thought I remembered a statement from a Selectman back in May saying the search of a TA was progressing. I guess we now know why more details were not available. Here is the Statement from May 16,2017:

Also, in effect of the items highlighted on the original posting; I can assure you that the Town Administrator & Treasurer position is showing favorable progress. That is all I can comment on that subject.

Favorable as compared to what???? Not looking? It appears we have relied solely on the Collins Institute for candidates.

We did more direct advertising for the Veterans Services Officer which we gave back to the Chairman of the Board of Selectman.

Still haven't received a response to my concern discussed with Selectman on June 13, 2017 about Chapter 268a section 21a but I'm sure its just an over site..........lol
