The Superintendent was a budget manager he is really working hard to protect administration and give them pay raises. He presented slashing the teachers.
With the population crashing, low birth rates and illegal alien deportations, we should find plenty of savings in school budgets nationwide. Both Classroom and Admin. Plus all the bogus counseling, coaching and other support positions.
By coaching, I do not include athletic coaching. I'm referring to the phony-baloney academic coaching position they've invented. The ones we have that didn't fix the kids needing to take remedial high school math to do college math.
Let him complain ! He has had his way for too long. Templeton is a town that relies on the taxpayer for most of its funding. Just where does Casavant think this money is coming from, with the inflated cost of everything they need from gas to food. Reality better set in real soon. Gone is the game he played by hurting the kids to get his budget passed for years. That bird won't fly.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I tried finding the Templeton budget on the website. It appears they stopped sharing that information with the public but the Selectmen want a 2-4 million dollar override. Candace Graves appears to be doing her work but she voted to place override. She needs to step up with the other board members for transparency. She brought up that the Town Administrator didn't make any cuts. Are all departments getting a wish list? A confused taxpayer.
The budget is a process. This process is being actively worked on. To vote to put the override on the warrant, is not the matter of being for or against it. As a voter, people have to right to vote for the over or against it. If a select person votes no, then if they all agree, then as a voter, you don't have a choice. Understand ? This way each voter can make their decision, to vote for the over ride or against it. You also have a choice of how much or how little(by voting no) you want to spend. My frustration with the school budget isn't fair to Mr. Casavant. His job is budgeting for the school. The budget didn't get where it is by itself. The School Committees and the voters allowed it over the years. So he goes for the gold, but the gold puts every other department in the same rut its been in before, only deeper !
The town of templeton mission statement is not accurate. It is not a caring community and does not look out for the public good. It should be changed. The public good would be sharing the budget information for the residents! You want them to vote on an override and won't share any information with them. A caring community doesn't treat their residents poorly putting up signs near roads stating pass at own risk to attempt avoiding liability. Templeton is an embarrassment.
They also didn't put the town report on the town website. I give them an F on transparency. They want the residents to vote on override but don't put anything on town website. Why are they wasting $ having the webpage? Makes no sense.

ReplyDeleteWatch out. Casavant is gearing up for a complaint.

DeleteThis sums it up. Casavant already received a needs improvement score. He still struggles. Many don't trust him.

Who doesn't trust Superintendent Casavant? If the Teacher Union doesn't trust him, that's a mark in his favor.
ReplyDeleteThe question should be the other way around, it will be much easier to answer. Who trusts Casavant would be the better question.
