Massachusetts has an item called the Open Meeting Law, which is covered under MA general law chapter 30A, §§ 18-25, and accompanying regulations, 940 Code of Mass. Regs. 29.00, provide the public with a right of access to the meetings of a large number of public bodies at the state and local level. It is important to have these laws / regulations, which results in a way for residents to ty and hold their elected and appointed representatives accountable. When residents use these laws and regulations, it is not a burden, unfair or costly means, it is part of our system of governance that we have in place. When I hear an elected or appointed official comment or complain about an open meeting law complaint being a burden to taxpayers or a reference to increased legal cost to taxpayers, as if a resident or person should not use the process put in place by other elected officials. All elected or appointed persons should remember that the people supply the money elected people spend, so in the end, when a person files an open meeting law complaint, they are also approving the spending of their money to bring forward and have discussion on said complaint.

  1. I completely agree. Having Mrs Griffis state its " a waste of taxpayer dollars when its Habitual" is truly sad. It shows that lack of understanding so often demonstrated within our committees and Boards. Could it be that like Mrs. Griffis, others in town blame the messenger, become emotional and solve nothing?
One could just as easily say " If Mrs. Griffis would stop violating OML ...." but the fact of the matter is simply. It wouldn't cost the town anything if the Selectboard answered the complaints filed against them, for their actions, themselves!

But I pay taxes and this is how the averages break out Templeton based on FY23 BUdget and 2020 Census.

this is oxymoron " All elected or appointed persons should remember that the people supply the money elected people spend, so in the end, when a person files an open meeting law complaint, they are also approving the spending of their money to bring forward and have discussion on said complaint. This only show that if you have elected person who disrespect the citizen those rate payers that alone is outrageous the system allow filing of open meeting law restriction but their no meat in mission better to take them to court ourselves frankly the facts > we are all held hostage as property holders by tax system that continue to expand , the reps just comply except for Jeff B who does research on laws the system can should be change we can be change to suit us all we do not need yes people yes to this yes to that , The administrator can be given a chance but real direction doesn't come form him it must come form us citizen who continue to move for action , it is possible to remove the tax system this vote for 20,000 and right to search property for new adversity on land is intrusive and more like communist manifesto the state tax game risers on 2 issue always , people family must move to remote learning The removal of stupid school to smart on is well over due , the kids i spoken too all think the school is joke and not worth the money they agree that a more directive is their wish they wish we would fix it , they all told me they would welcome it spending 20 million per year ? for 1400 kids get real we can do better its time to restructure
