  1. Looks like another year has passed, but our Town accountant didn't. 4 years into her appointment and she has yet to become a certified government accountant.
Not for nothing, but I feel Templeton needs someone who has more than a 2 outta 3 chance of being right.
Our Town accountant has failed to achieve 70% correct on this test more than once. That leads me to think that 30+% of her answers are wrong.

Do you want to pay $77,500 per year for a 60%er in accounting who is training our other uncertified finance member, the Town Treasurer/collector.

We are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to run departments headed by uncertified finance members in direct conflict to DOR and our Auditors advice.

    1. I do not want to wake up again, only to find out the Town'Accountant does not know what they are doing, and the Town is in serious financial trouble again. We have gone this way once. It cost us serious money, money we could have used to get things done. Our Board of Selectman sat back and did nothing to correct the problem the first time, allowing mismanagement to go on. The town's people cannot go thru this again. This position was supposed to go back to part time after the audits. Maybe this is time to put source this department. We may actually save money, get the job done correctly and save on retirement costs, sick time and other associated costs.

    2. I think we should look at outsourcing all departments. Doing so is the only way we'll know if we are getting maximum value for the taxpayer.
