Selectmen Fortes attended the Advisory Committee meeting and stated he is willing to try and help move a few items along for the betterment of Templeton, while talk is cheap and good whiskey costs money, hopefully this is a start with at least one selectmen who is willing to listen and hopefully help move some important things along.

One item of discussion was a monthly financial report (expenditure versus appropriation) was discussed, along with the financial policy (brought forward and voted on by selectmen) which states a monthly expenditure report will be present in accordance with state law.

Problem is the monthly report of June is not going to be made until late August; so is it good to have a policy but not follow it?

An unlikely duo of Bennett and Fortes having civil discussion on issues of Town governance; is that considered progress? I would say it does not mean that we agree on everything nor are we best friends, it means we are willing to have "the talk" to try and improve things, especially the perception of the residents, that their representatives, despite a contentious relationship, can and will move to get things done in an attempt attempt to help those residents out.

I believe that is one of the reasons people run for office; to try to help.

Again, thank you to selectmen Cameron Fortes for taking time to attend a meeting to hopefully assist in getting some needed changes completed.

  1. Well that’s 2:22:30 seconds of absolutely 0 accomplished ( except a good laugh and well wasted electricity) ..
Watching this and all the chatter about Excel Spreadsheets, reminded me ( who knew people still used these) of a time not so long ago. Some years ago I taught my cousin (80+ at the time) how to “shop” on the Internet. We used Lands End as an example, since she received their catalogs. I taught her how to “search,” then put the item into her “cart” (see the little cart icon), and then how to check out.
Kinda like what’s going on here in this meeting Mr Bennett is referencing.

  5. “ a lot of people in this community have no access to the internet “ Well, that’s just sad ! How they have community TV ... a lot of good stuff on that not just LandsEnd !

  6. Hopefully this meeting finally leads to a change in either article 3 section 4 or article 4 section 4 before the next budget season.

It was nice to see one Selectman seemingly always fulfilling their commitment to the community. Whether you agree with Mr. Fortes or not you have to admit He is at least participating, showing up and making his thoughts known.
I like the idea of Jeff and Cameron Communicating. It's an expansion sorely needed within the town.

  7. Maybe the state reps will listen on a grant issue, since those same state reps crapped on the voters after said voters told those reps to reduce a certain tax and they (those reps) ignored the voters. Besides, a politician never passes on a photo opt.

    1. I would not spend a great deal of energy on "notsmartenough" until he decides to act like a grown-up !Just my opinion. I am glad we have one Selectman willing to work with the Advisory Committee. Things can only improve, hopefully.

    2. Mr Bennett,
Thankyou for pointing me to a giant search engine for my answer. However, there are MANY taxes that YOU oppose so it’s impossible to differentiate one from the other. Please NAME the tax and I will GOOGLE the tax ( if you can NAME the tax ) .

    3. Bev Bart,
My own eyes must be failing me now ( possible cause ? BOOBM viniger spray to counteract for chem trails over Templeton ) .
You all have cozied up to Mr Fortes, how disingenuous of all of you. However, not unexpected - Trump supporters cult.

    4. I cozy up to no one. I am not a tRump supported ! Last time I checked I do not belong to a cult of any kind. I do believe in democracy, and the right to free speech. I do believe that when you vote for a person they should do their job, and that is to work for all of the people in their community. I do believe people have a right to the truth and there should be no reason to keep the truth from the people who elected you. I do not believe in"getting along to go along", to avoid the public from knowing the truth. People I know may have different feelings than I do, especially about the political situation in our nation but because we do have a democracy, they have the right to believe What they want. I feel Mr. Fortes is a intelligent person, but I know he has no clue about the problems this town has had in the past 40 years. Simply, because he is not old enough. My grandmother had a saying. "You can't put a old head on young shoulders." It is important for the Selectmen to work with Advisory . I give him credit for being willing to work with them, and would be more than willing to help if asked. I hope I have made myself clear.

    5. Bev Bart,
You have blasted Mr Fortes on this blog and others. Now that Mr Fortes inexperience and lack of institutional knowledge in government is becoming glaringly obvious to people - he seems to be losing favor with his fellow BOS members.
As a result Mr Fortes - the political animal he seems to be is looking for allies. He finds them of course in those who are also lacking in those areas.

    6. LOL..Hear Yee, Hear Yee........Members of the BOS show "Institutional Knowledge in government"?

Hear Yee, Hear Yee........... One member of BOS votes his own mind!! Other remain a unified groupthink! ( What should we say Carter?)

Diane and Caplis in particular appear to have lip lock on Carters butt

  10. Sorry smartnuff, you will just have to put in some effort on the tax subject, it is really an easy one to find. I have not cozied up to anyone, rather being a realist and putting some personal differences aside to hopefully change a few things. However, if I feel criticism of any selectmen, including Selectmen Fortes, is warranted, it will happen. You do not know whom I voted for or whom I may have written in for a presidential election nor any other election and you never will.

  11. No, however certain information Mr Bennett is public record. The Tax question - I’m not sure why you will not answer a simple question. Perhaps you will it answer as to what TAX you oppose because it will then open you up to critisms and well - then you tend to shut your blog down until you calm down and get lonely for comments.
You have been critical of certain political representatives here so I can only imagine who you voted for in the general.

  12. Not gonna happen, you will not wag the dog, and I did inform you as to where you can find tax information pertaining to what voters said by way of their vote and what their representatives did or did not do. Smartnuff, you posted how good google earth is, so that leads me to the conclusion you know how to effectively utilize google, so again, I suggest you try again. I never get lonely for comments as I receive them every two weeks or so anyways. It is not a tax I oppose, it is the action or lack there of, that I posted. You were so able to post links to meetings and to speak of peoples records, you should be able to find the subject matter, as you say, you are just smart enough!

  13. Again, there are many taxes Jeff B... I can now only guess ——— it’s the sales tax ——— and if that’s it —- and you wanted that lowered .... you are indeed as I’ve said —— uniformed

    1. The last person you can call uninformed is Jeff ! Go back to making salad, it does seem you can handle that ! The Advisory Committee is short a member. Seeing you feel free to criticize them maybe you could step up and volunteer. Lol !

  14. Dear Bev Bart,
Seems as though the man who mentions “ product “ a lot has a new member all hand picked and for an enthusiastic “YES!” by the young woman on the finance/advisory/ bored */ committee - so don’t fear ! the entire think tank will be fully assembled.
You are fond of old sayings like myself For anyone to be in that group is as crazy as a rat in a coffee can. BUT, still holding out for 1 member to throw his hands in the air and say “ yup bat poop crazy talk Jeff “ and walk out stage left.

  15. All things considered, as in the number of vacancies on many town committees and even elected boards, commissions, etc., it is easy to see a member happy to see someone stepping up and giving of their time to try t help out their town. See you Wednesday justsmartenough.
