Templeton, MA; The Town's financial team has one certified member, that would be the Deputy Assessor Luanne Royer. Having successfully completed the prescribed requirements, Luanne has earned the recognition from the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers and has been named a Massachusetts Accredited Assessor. This demonstrates a level of dedication and professionalism to the Assessors office.

Now when people enter the office shared by the Town Clerk and the Deputy Assessor, they will meet two town employees who have earned certification from their respective associations / professional groups. Hopefully, eventually, the other members of the financial team will earn certification and recognition from their respective associations.

  1. Why don't we have certified people in the treasure/collectors office and the accountants office? I voted some time back when the town combined the treasures and collector to have the person that was to be certified. This town can't move ahead without certified people.

  2. I think a lot of people in Templeton should be or could be certified.

  3. You have to pass the test to become certified ! Just think of the money we have thrown away, because we did not have people who were certified. Maybe we would have roads we could actually drive down without dodging the holes. Even though these people did not know the job, you and I paid them good money, and in the end paid $300K to get our books sort of straightened out ! So why in the world would anyone, especially the Board of Selectman hire unqualified people ?

  4. A look at the 2017 management letter shows a major concern is "Fraud Risk Measures". I think this is required given our financial set up in its entirety.

Maybe if the Administration wants to bring the billing for the Sewer Department to town Hall the Sewer Department should offer to pay for a forensic audit of the town prior to co-mingling funds through our town financial services department.

    1. Why even have a budget of it is not honest ? Think about this. Carter added about 10,000. to one road project. He tried to pad the transfer by 2,000. Now consider the money he had left to play with after he got rid of Alan, Bud, and Carol Lee. One lousy way to run a town, in my way of thinking. How many times has he done this before ? We have more financial problems that are hidden away, but as I truly believe, it will come out in the wash. Sooner or later !

    2. I also believe he got rid of the fire cheif, so he could use his pay to cover up holes in his financial planning.
