Board of Selectmen meeting agenda for Wednesday, November 29, 2017 @ 6:30 P.M.

One item strikes me as odd for this time of year - request for proposals for legal services.

Usually, town counsel is chosen in June, at the end of the fiscal year. Of course, this could be for something involving the elementary school project, but it does seem strange for this time of year. Last time town counsel services were discussed by this board of selectmen, it was agreed that no change was necessary. Unfortunately, with this group of selectmen, always expect the unexpected.

Whatever the reason for this subject, it will be interesting for the reasoning. Maybe it is for bond counsel -:) Oh, wait, Templeton does not have a bond rating!

  1. Templeton does not have a bond rating, it has too much debt ! What part of this doesn't our BOS understand ? People who live in this town have elected these people to run the town the best way that they can. They put trust in these people. I do believe that the trust has been betrayed in the worse possible way. Trying to build a school or do any large project like this, when the town is in the financial bind it is in, violates the trust the people have placed in the hands of these elected people to do what is the right thing. Once we continue to borrow money in the way they plan to, leaves us with no room to borrow a penny from anywhere for anything. Need a truck, oh that is too bad !! Need anything at all ? we have burned our way through our ability to borrow, period !! You might think about the thousands of dollars the town needs to fix the roads, or to replace equipment that is on it's last, very last leg. How will that happen ? It won't, but of course we can always borrow money from someone, but at what price ?? This town is in a very serious predicament, and it did not have to be this way. Poor management year after year got us to this point. Bad management will not get us out. My opinion as a taxpaying homeowner and a citizen of the United States. Bev.
