rocker scientists Bev we are short two laborers and patch what we can when other most important things are taken care of.I will say i did patching on both south and Barre rd.
We take care of the worst first.
Have a call we go out. If you see a problem report it.Call and report it we don't go around to patch until the sweeping is concluded and this year the money is tight to purchase patch as it has a high cost.
I guess you can't please all the people all the time.
But then some people exaggerate just a little!!

So, the apparent spokesperson for the Templeton Highway department and the selectmen, Dave Smart says money is tight to purchase road patching material. He also states no chapter 90 funds have been spent on buying road patching material. Perhaps that is the answer, poor management on both ends. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts providing funds to do just that, purchase road repair materials like cold patch, it states that in the post about Chapter 90 funds, but Templeton, according to the highway department spokesperson Smart, does not use those funds to purchase said material. If that is true, the question should be why not? Money is provided by way of what is described as a grant for certain things and road repair seems to be one of those things. Yet, it is not done, again, according to selectmen/highway spokesperson Smart. That my friends, is a lack of governmental services, decent roads without the pot holes. This is about the here and now, not three, four or more years ago, the present, today, the present sitting board of selectmen.

The money is there and so are the pot holes! So, What to do?

I am inquiring about the use of Templeton's apportioned share of Massachusetts Department of Transportations Chapter 90 money to the Town of Templeton. I wish to know how and/or what is was used for in Fiscal Year 2016. I would also like the same information for Fiscal Year 2017 and what are the plans, if any, for Fiscal Year 2018 with regards to chapter 90 monies. I ask these questions because of the many potholes on Town Roads and according to Templeton Highway department / Templeton Selectmen spokesperson Dave Smart, Templeton does not use any chapter 90 monies for pot hole repair, such as purchasing cold patch material. I take Mr. Smart at his word as he is a Templeton Town employee of the Templeton highway department and seems to know what goes on at the department as well as what and how the selectmen work. I am puzzled at his various statements about Templeton highway not using chapter 90 monies for some of its intended uses. Any assistance to these questions would be greatly appreciated. If an electronic copy of a detailed general ledger fund on the spending of chapter 90 monies is available, I would also request a copy in electronic form.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance in this matter.

respectfully:

Jeffrey Bennett

Perhaps some official explanations can be had on the pothole situation and why no road repair money is being spent on road repair.

  1. JEFFY can forward this too!
I pass on what i hear! I don't pass on what like JEFFY does is make things up!
I ask questions and seek answers. As a public informant not an instigator likeJEFFY.
But then some people exaggerate just a little!! Like "JEFFY".
He has stated no road repairs have been done.
We all know thats a total line of BARF.
He has a way of being a exaggerator like BEV and the elephant story.
But i guess they learned from the newspapers and if it can sound better write it so it will. Templeton Highway department / Templeton Selectmen spokesperson Dave Smart,
So you can see this is JEFFYS label for me and has done this with others also.
So he will ask his questions in writing from the "quote" the Superior Board.
WOW what a concept ask questions and get answers. See that is what usually gets done first not the way this Former Superior Board member goes at it.
So ask yourself this do we take a former elected officials word for anything or think it's just a one on one school yard issue.
    Just to clarify his labels!
I am the Local 39 Union Steward and will defend all parts of the labor provided.
We do what we can with what we have "left".
We have in the past been without any 1 ton dump trucks to patch with.
Jeff would say use a wheeled barrow and save the gas then complain not enough gets done .
I need to take JEFFY with a grain of salt but when it comes to highway dept. bashing i have a sudden urge to give it back. Anyone notice?
So AC needs to pony up what the people in charge need and pay the highway people the 10.00 per day out of grade money we deserved.
Read the contract Jeffy the 40 hours was negotiated out and only says out of grade in our agreement. That's what happens when management looks to screw a union member out of the pay when they do work the 40 hours deal and are denied like i was.
So i hope JEFFY posts the answers he gets and does pass them on to the IG AG SG
    DOT BUT

  2. Is the answer, poor management on both ends. If so has anything changed from when JEFF BENNETT was in charge of the Board of Selectman.
Sort of the kettle calling the pot Black.
Same as the charge card thing with purchases done for equipment with the snow and ice.
Better yet the chapter 90 money uses. Same old rules and same old government following them.
We use to pay for crack sealing 20k per year and cut that from the budget also. We could have used the chapter 90 money when JEFFY was in charge and he didn't.
    WHY not JEFFY.
We don't crack seal in town any longer as the budget was never restored to do that.
We could purchase crack sealer equipment with the chapter 90 money but i can just hear the uproar and obtuse blogs about it now from JEFFY.
So they wanted it cut and then it never was restored back.
Jeff saw the cuts when they made the budget mistakes!!!
Jeff made the mistakes that led up to the problems we now face and see's the light after it hits the fan.
Were so luck to have the town "crier" he is to help us figure out all the problems we now have years later.
    Great Job.
Thanks JEFF. We couldn't have done it without you!
