FY2018 - Revenue and expense "plan"

Highway  page 161

Highway - employee support - Total: $13,250.00

This shows the additional costs of one department and the consequences and future financial obligations of labor contracts, and when "the town is tight on money" sometimes other things may suffer because of those. "Free boots so we do not have to buy them again and again." This is public information that is available to all those who would take the time to look and ask questions, rather than sit in the corner and shut up. You can also ask the "two John's' who serve on the board of selectmen, because they are in "the know."

(for the benefit of little D) - The first 6 items listed in the table are part of labor contract, as noted in the revenue/expense book, located on Templeton town website electronically so you can check. This is the information provided by the board of selectmen!  These items benefit the highway department employees and in my opinion, are part of any benefit package offered such as retirement and health insurance.

  1. A question. Do the town employees pay income tax on the boots, shirts, sweatshirts etc or do they not wear them to and from work? Do they even know whether they are required to or not?

  2. As jeff copy and pasted this we are less stable.
If he were to do what he has volunteered to do he could be looking into the school requested budget and telling the public like a former AC person did and find out the facts or copy and paste may not work out that way.
Many items above are not contract related but only listed here under a copy and paste effort.

This shows the additional costs of one department and the consequences and future financial obligations of labor contracts.

Many things posted on this blog get modified and made to look like there is a union issue to blame.
You get the story, or the story he want's you to get.
    Good question Bob M
We should find that out and see what the Advisory COMMITTEE would ADVISE the town to do. I know i pay sales tax on the boots at Bobs.
We offered to drop the uniforms when the town was tight on money and were told no we need you in them.
Just bash the guys who work for less and extended hours sometimes 24+ and don't worry about heating a building not in use.

    1. I do think employees should know what makes them liable for being charged income tax on items like clothing, etc.....

  3. Well, if little Davey can read, he would notice that no where in the post did it state all of the items in the table were or are part of a labor contract. It does state there are consequences to labor contracts. Again, nowhere does it state there is a union issue, rather it points out the financial issue, which is part of Advisory Committee duty. When I see the actual school budget from the school district, I will say what I think about it. No matter what it is, the Town either approves it or goes through what it went through in 2013 again, that is the choice of Town meeting. I would vote to recommend approve the school budget as presented while clarifying any thing within it that I feel requires such action. The above is not a story. Also, when you use the copy/paste procedure, it is simply using technology for efficiency, rather than re-typing something over and over. Whether part of a labor contract or not, they are still benefits to you and should be considered in financial terms. Stop being so mad little Davey because someone takes the time to publicize all of the extras you receive courtesy of the taxpayers. You know, the ones you said should buy you boots so you do not have to pay for them out of your pay check! Regardless if mandated by labor contract or not, all of the above items are an expense of the Town. Dave gets a paycheck and free boots, Tee shirts, Jackets, etc, and still complains about low pay. Get over it Davey, the information is going to keep coming.

  4. Which is part of Advisory Committee duty?
I didn't see you at any negotiations so which part is it you refer to JEFFY BEEN IT?
When the people in charge to make the decisions that matter sign you sit down/stand down or what ever you think you do at AC. Copy/Cut/Paste? take your pick.
I could care less if you think the AC can do anything about it,a signed contract will be followed by the people in "charge" and that ain't you anymore.
This is public information and they are few who come here to get it.
When so little can be accomplished by your committee it makes me wonder why does the chairman bother, and not just take your lead and quit.
I've asked Mr. Spring many times what makes him keep at it. Why bother when you get shit on,lied to and belittled?
I get the answer he would hate to see what would happen without him keeping an eye on the people in charge. I have thanked him time and time again for the work and time he spends doing the research for us all. I appreciate the time all of you donate even you Jeff.
I just think we have a fundamental difference of opinion like Bud and i have had.
Don't think I'm mad from your posts or name calling. I think if it weren't for it this blog would have less views if any at all. Keep up the good work it should get interesting sooner then you think.
Future financial obligations of labor contract which has no change from the last years obligations. Guess that part won't require any more A.C. time.
    Or will it?
You should try to get a real perspective on town issues,i think it would help you.
Not to mention what it could do for the towns Advisory Committee.
So will there be any Advise this year with Wil not running the show.
I hope he gets well soon as the town needs him more every day.
I'm sure he is doing what he can at home to help you thank god for that.

  5. Actually, all contracts require some attention each year, as in when anyone or any entity will be looking at department budgets, you need to be aware of contract obligations when looking at say cell phone expense. Kind of hard to recommend a cut if it is required by a contract. Of course you are mad Davey, that is why you keep coming with the little digs, I enjoy the laughs. You may continue to bring up my resigning from the board of selectmen, which I explained or tried to. Since I am now a volunteer on the Advisory Committee, it does not look like I quit on the town, just moved to a different approach. You should read your contract with regards to conduct.

  6. You may want to poll the public on that one jeffy b.
Last i knew when you quit it didn't help your standing from those i have talked to.
The comments are not material for even this blog of yours.
I also enjoy the laughs, i get many comments about this back and forth and enjoy it.
    So lets keep it up!!
Push on and move forward i say!
    Lets do it!

  7. The cell phone for 1680. per year is a old one that's rarely even used.
It's only one and the 12 is how many months it is under contract for.
We all donate our personal cell phone use and is a back up comm if needed.
Your welcome Templeton, again! There has been talk of a stipend for the use of the personal ones and i could just see the pick apart you could have with that one j.b.
