Templeton Town officials try to put all blame on fire chief Ray LaPorte with regards to spending. However, it was those same officials who said it was okay to transfer $111,000.00 from fire/ems to pay for snow & ice deficit back on November 9, 2015 special town meeting. Then in March 2016 special town meeting, put back $45,000.00 into fire/ems salary account and now they wish to transfer another $7,000.00 into fire/ems salary to cover salaries through end of the fiscal year. Guess they should have left that salary account alone and paid for the deficit out of FY2017 state aid. Maybe it is those officials who need to be fired rather than the fire chief.

  1. Ray. LaPorte did nothing but try to run his department with a shrinking budget. What about the other people who ran deficits ? That 111,000. never should have been approved. Our Town Administrator was not truthful when I and others questioned the move. Money from this fund was supposed to stay in that fund. Saying it was a duplicate entry was not true. They say to learn from your mistakes. Trust me I learned, the hard way.

  2. Any Advisory Board is only as good as the figures they are given. Remember that ! A weak Advisory Board is the last thing this Town needs. In the past the Advisory Boards allowed things to go on that hurt the Town in the long run. Many of these Boards knew that using every penny from free cash, lottery money and funds from other accounts was not the right thing to do. It is a hard habit to break. No one wants to be the bad guy by saying no but someone has to be. Do you know there are departments who do not know what they have in their budget ? Do you really want to stay poor ? It is up to all of us to straighten out, for once and for all. Bev.

  3. Other accounts have been overextended as well... Police and COA to name two.

And yet those dept. heads were rewarded with raises !

    Go figure!
