If you receive one of those things in the mail from the Templeton firefighter's association asking for money to obtain training and to purchase equipment for which tax dollars are not available, think about this before sending or giving any more of your dollars.

I am not sure of what equipment or training is not available to Templeton town fire department or ambulance service, but there is/was plenty of money to do what is described in pamphlet. Fire department end of year financial, which you can read on town website shows a total of $108,400.00 left over from fire dept. budget. Breakdown is Personnel - $77,859.00, supplies- $4,000.00, other - $10,000.00, employee support - $12,365.00. Ambulance receipts shows ending balance of $682,619.00. Also, new ambulance computers show $10,000.00 appropriated with $8,500.00 spent. Also, fire dept. face book page shows new utility truck in a parade in Keene, New Hampshire which was bought from a $75,000.00grant from state. I do not see how the fire dept. is lacking in funding for training or other equipment. Residents have already provided enough money. Enough with using town, taxpayer funded buildings, equipment and town employees being paid to do a job collecting for a private charity.

  1. One item you are forgetting is the ADDITIONAL funding, thats right, the increase in funding to the Fire Department of $184,000 for 2023 received this year even though they left over $791,000 unspent in their accounts in 2022.

Do not donate to any town organization. Your taxes are more than enough to do what is actually done.

  2. page 29 of FY2023 budget book shows fire budget as $905,350.00 and town meeting warrant for May 2022 (FY23) article 17 shows appropriation for ambulance at $290,250.00. Total fire/EMS (ambulance) funding for FY23 = $1,195,600.00 While end of year finance report shows fire/EMS budget was appropriated at $990,190.00, also shows ambulance receipts stand at $682,619.00, which could be spent if town meeting was asked to appropriate it all. End of day, more than enough money to cover whatever training and/or equipment that is needed!

  3. Thanks for the update.

To me this just shows more of the management issues within town.

This department has more equipment than most local departments. We have how many trucks?
14 or so vehicles in service?
7 or so "not in service"
    3 antique buildings
    2 sets of dryers
    2 sets of washers
    3 building exhaust systems
and we employees doing parades in another state at town expense. We have officers doing charity drives while at work, from work using work facilities.................complaining about not having equipment and training that Chief Dickie did not put in BUDGET!!!!!!

Where is the "unfunded" training that was requested by Chief Dickie? I cannot find any on the 2023 Budget, can anyone else?
