  1. I just read an article in the snooz. Why is Phillipston only paying 1% more for the use of dispatch ? Did it go up 2%,so they get to pay half of the increase ? It is no wonder we are always broke ! What is wrong with this picture ? In my book, everything. What do you think ?

  2. Seems to me “you” all don’t want anything to do with Phillipston. From the sharp comments about the school, senior center and now dispatch. “You” all may get your wish and Phillipston will take their money and go with a better price and leave Templeton with another 55,000 hole. The town of Phillipston as said by the TA is “ a customer “ I would assume that this is money that is desperately needed. As you say it all comes out in the wash.

  3. Judy, I cannot speak for anyone else, but my only thought is Templeton should pay for Templeton and Phillipston should pay for Phillipston.

Does Templeton and Phillipston have a cost sharing agreement on the Senior Center? If not, should Phillipston residents be allowed to use the services?

I also feel part of what you might be interpreting as "bad feelings" towards Phillipston is actually distrust in Templeton past management performance

    1. No, I’m not interpreting “ bad feelings “ as anything but comments made contemporaneous to recent articles in regards to dispatch and school building/funding.

  4. I believe dispatch money from Phillipston is a bit over $60,000.00 and I also believe the money is desperately needed by the Templeton selectmen in order to support their spending plan (s) which have been made by poor choices (in my opinion) If you have a 15 million dollar spending plan and $60,000.00 is a make or break number, perhaps they should be doing other things besides logging and .75% meals tax. It is also my opinion that if one considers Phillipston a customer, the should expect t pay a fair share of the costs for services. Phillipston should not opt out of taking part in a new school building project and then when it is completed, expect to be able to use it They had their chance several times and every time, they said no. If Phillipston is able to find the same kind of dispatch service for the same price or a better price, then I would say Templeton should follow them. When you have an opportunity to improve your situation and you decline, you should not claim afterwards you now are in a place of unfair disadvantage, should have thought about that before voting to opt out of being part of it. So, in my opinion, and the point I make, I it is about what is right and fair for the Templeton taxpayers, who foot the bills (or will) for these services and buildings. If you live in Templeton, your property taxes will go up at least $2.00 per thousand to pay for that school; do you think it fair and right for Phillipston residents to have access to that school without paying anything for it? I think a check to Templeton from Phillipston for 15 million would cover the school. Question: If Phillipston can get the same dispatch service from Gardner for les than what they pay Templeton, do you think Templeton should follow suit? Would that be a better deal for the taxpayers?

  5. I’m sorry can you help me understand. Is Phillipston going to use the new school ?

  6. How much and based on what should Phillipston pay ? Can you give me the advisory’s facts on that ?

  7. I cannot tell you if Phillipston is going to use the new school. I can tell you there has been discussion on Phillipston kids being at an unfair disadvantage because of the new school. I believe that is a subject that Templeton residents should be aware of and pay attention to. I cannot give you advisory's facts because this is not an advisory blog. You would have to attend an advisory meeting to ask those sort of questions. I can state my opinion based on the so far presented anticipated costs to Templeton taxpayers that Phillipston should pay 15 million dollars. No 80 / 20 split as it is a Town project rather than a district project. Again, this is my personal opinion. This blog has nothing to with advisory committee, I hope you understand that.

  8. So, just to clarify you have no facts just what, “ discussion you heard “ as I watched your last meeting ( advisory ) and you alluded to that at well. You have conjecture and gossip seems to me. Seems to me 0 discussion of Phillipston children attending the new Templeton school on any official municipal meetings or documents. If I’m wrong please correct me.
It seems to me you are looking to blame another town and senior citizens for this towns failures.

Why would Templeton allow Phillipston to freeload off of us?

I hope someone out on the internet makes the people and employees of Phillipston aware of how some on this trash collection blog feel.

Phillipston Phreeloaders pay less (dispatch) or nothing (senior center) than Templeton taxpayers.

  12. Town government is a business and needs to be run like one. Everyone should pay their own way. Simple as that. Saying we are against Phillipston is ridiculous. Just pay your fair share, that's all.

    1. Templeton is building a school that is too big. Not Phillipston's problem. That does not mean you can decide to go for free, or small dollars. Fair is fair! If the shoe was on the other foot, you would feel the same way.

    2. I have nothing against the people of Phillipson and as a matter of fact, envy them for good money management . Just because we do not agree, does not make it more than it is.

What’s fair ? How about what Phillipston pays now for the school ? That’s not fair to you ? NO WHERE has it been said as the lady mentioned above has Phillipston alluded officially or even on the record to give any indication of taking K-5 kids to Templetons new fancy school .
Now the picking on the elderly going to the senior center IF ANY go at all from Phillipston is a disgusting thing to bring up as free loaders !!

The Senior Center was built with an override. Templeton taxpayers paid for it. And we pay 100% for the operation. Phreeloaders from Phillipston better not be freeloading!

Tell us about Phillipston and how they support their Senior Center.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why should Phillipston residents benefit from Templeton taxpayers??? Try using another towns COA as a non resident!
Seriously, your arguing that because someone from another community is old or invalid and their taxpayers don't care to contribute I should pay?

Seriously, if thats what you think I'm glad you feel this blog is not for you..........enjoy

I'm waiting for you to post info on what Phreeloading Phillipston spends on it's Senior Center. Rather than spout nonsense about Templeton's obligation to Phreeloaders, post about how much Phillipston spends on their old people.

I will make sure that the feelings expressed in this blog of sadness and ineptitude here are relayed in their entirely to the representatives and appropriate organizations so that they have a better understanding of Templetons constituents.

  25. Anonymous8:27 AM

Anon 8:08 - why do you divert away from Phreeloading Phillipston's avoidance of paying for their Senior Citizens to have a Center? Maybe Templeton residents shoulder their obligations more willingly than the Phreeloaders?

Evade, evade, evade! Are you a Phillipston Phreeloader? Or perhaps a renter in Templeton, with little stake in the game, living in the housing authority apartments?
