Who is posting comments on this blog?

Who is TAB MAN Who is Ordinary Joe?

Who are the Anonymous commentators?

I really do not know, nor do I care. I do know they could be anyone, as in any resident/taxpayer of Templeton. I do not post or comment under anonymous and I own what I write. This blog was not started by someone else. This blog mostly deals with local issues as I believe that is what interests most people. As one Massachusetts U.S. Representative to congress is credited with saying "all politics is local"

When a Templeton Town employee comments the way dave smart has been doing lately, he is basically harassing Templeton Town residents with most of his comments. I know I have not signed nor am I aware of being covered under any contract which contains a conduct clause in it. dave smart states he is a union man, a union steward in Templeton and that would mean he is covered by a contract that contains a conduct clause. dave smart also stated Templeton hired unqualified employees. dave smart has also commented that Templeton highway has unreliable equipment. Now I am not sure what dave smart meant by unreliable but I know that could mean the machinery is unsafe. If the hydraulic system is unreliable, that would mean it is not safe to hoist anything, such as load a truck with sand. If the engine and braking system is unreliable, that would mean it is not safe to operate on the road ways and probably should not be operated at all. dave smart also stated Templeton highway hire unqualified employees. That could make for a good legal argument in any legal action involving any incidents or accidents involving Templeton highway equipment.

As a Town employee, dave smart has a responsibility to look out for the residents/taxpayers. I do not believe that is the case with regards to dave smart. A Templeton Town employee such as dave smart should not use his dislike and disdain for me to belittle Templeton residents, whom ever they may be. That is  an insult to those who provide dave smart with every thing he has, a paycheck, a job, free boots, tee shirts, jackets, health insurance, etc., etc.

dave smart, wrong for Templeton.

My opinion on that subject.

  1. Hmm, could that be why Someone took him aside after the last BOS meeting ? It a has been quiet all week. Did someone stop Dave from blogging. He does have the right to free speech like the rest of us, after all. I would only hope that Dave would understand the people on the AC are not out to hurt anyone in town government. Problems like the town has, start at the top. I think it is called the trickle down affect. My opinion, Bev.

    1. Interesting information I found on one of our old Annual Reports. In 1991, our Annual Report said that "fiscal year 1991, was another year of fiscal stress." Local aid was 5.1% less than the prior year 1990. The town's fy.90's $554.253 in certified free cash was used to offset the tax rate, furnished major support in helping the town get by for the year. As in the prior year, certain maintenance and projects had to be forgone. In the Annual Report of 1999-2000, Advisory Board Chairman Dan Keeney's report offered the following observations. "As a town, we need to change the practice of relying upon uncertain sources of income (additional State Lottery Receipts, for example) to fund routinely reoccurring expenses (i.e. operating budgets)" "The town needs to get better at mid-term to long-term planning. Failure to do so will almost guarantee continued fiscal Emergencies. Each year without planning, after all of the money is spent, few programs are adequately funded and many participants remain dissatisfied".
So, as I have said before, nothing has changed. This year's budget has money from "cutting trees". That is not a funding source that should be used to run a town. That is no different than expecting to run Scout Hall by selling t-shirts. As someone once said, "the more things change, the more they stay the same". Bev.

Well said as usual Jeff. The ONLY one that worries about anon's is David, maybe he should spend more time on issues than blasting ones he can't see.

Jeff i have only worked for the Town of Templeton for 6 years.
A statement like you just made would imply i had nothing when i started.
With outrageous comments like you post here and twist every time you can what is written it's no wonder the people have better things to read.
The comment of unqualified hires was due to no licenses CDL as posted for the jobs.
Neither had a CDL. So unless they drive a cdl required truck your COULD is a big doubt. No charges or lawsuits would be filed unless laws are broken.
    Unlike firing employees without reasons.
I think you should take a Que from Bev and think about the town and not just a pay back quest for your removal from the Templeton watch as a administrator.
You make it sound like i have a problem with the people in Templeton and i would only ask one question if you think i do "WHO' would that be.
Accuse all you want but people have a right to know who is accusing them.
Or are the Anonymous the people out to harm Templeton as a whole.
It's no secret your dislike and disdain for me and the highway Union as a whole as you use our agreement with the town on every post you make.
I'm not sure what made you such a negative toward the highway department every time you get a chance to be.
Speculate and use all the could and woulds you want it is hard to think you have a reason to be the way you have been.
It's hard enough to hire for the wage of offer even harder if they read posted blogs about how you feel about the highway department. Not to mention the rest of the
    town.

So what Dave is saying is Templeton hired Doug's relative as a truck driver and the guy did not have a license to drive the trucks? And a CDL is required, but that requirement was waived for a Selectman's relative?

And this group of Selectmen are squawking about phantom OML violations. But they approve of hiring their relatives who don't have this CDL which the union steward states is required?

Dave should blow the whistle to the AG.There are protections for whistleblowers. Not so much for disgruntled employees.

Let's not forget that he was also the accountant's husband. Let's see Selectman, Council on Aging Director, Accountant and the Highway worker. sounds like Skeltonville has become Morrisonville!!hehe!!!!

  6. My opinion is the applicants to pick from was the reason for the CDL permit only hire.
The fact that a relative is a employee or a official had nothing to do with it.
Only a small number of applicants were in the running.
As we see with the pool of TA candidates who do you hire. With winter snow around the corner time to train and license proper personnel get shorter.
Joe 541 no one forces you to read anything, you don't like it you don't read it.
The hire was for laborer/operator/truck driver.
He has a valid 2A hoisting license and a CDL permit.
There are reasons due to license requirements the pool to pick from is so small.
What would Bev say "you take what you can get and try to make the best out of it".
The days are gone when you have 35 applicants to pick from like when i applied 6 years ago.

  7. So, the town had " 35 applicants to pick from like when I applied 6 years ago " ... explains a lot of why the town is where it is.

    1. Maybe the lack of people applying for the Highway Dept., is because, you never know how long you will have a job. With the financial mess this town has been in for way to long, who wants a job that is not reliable. Who wants to work with junk equipment ? It can be down right dangerous. Part of the reason our infrastructure is a disaster, is due to the number of times the Town has been broke. There has been no plan to replace junk equipment. How many times can you weld a part ? You cannot weld rust. I watch the plow go by when the visibility is so bad, you cannot see your hand in front of your face. I do worry about the guys that work for the highway dept. Most of the problems come from the lack of planning to replace equipment and a snow plow is easy to cut in May, that is "if their is any money in the budget for equipment". All of the problems Dave is talking about go back to the top. Poor management, year after year ! Bad or down right illegal financial issues do not go away, even if you kick the can down the road. They surface sooner or later. Funny how that happens !

  8. As in any highly industrialized towns built in the last century those with heavy polluters shuttered and left a legacy of enivoromntal degradation and generational legacies of health issues such as cancer they also took the taxes paid with them. They took their jobs and with them sometimes the pensions and healthcare plans for retirees of those corporations just when they needed them the most when diagnosed with health issues directly or indirectly caused as a result of the work they preformed. They leave the tax payer to " clean " up and look to more taxpayers to " reutilize" the contaminated land. People leave, businesses close, and soon all that is a Dunkin Donuts.

That’s not an indictment of mill towns, nor is it an obituary.. But it is a recognition of reality, and a call to do something to preserve these communities. When the times are " good " and coffers are full of cash that's also a time that " leadership " needed the foresight to see the end of this time and be visionary enough to see the future and the needs of its residents and environment.

    1. You are right. I am going to Town Hall this week to see just how many ,dollars we lost when Temple Stuart and the paper mill left. No change was made to deal with this loss of revenue to the best of my knowledge. How can you budget for money that will not ever be collected ? People may wonder why we as a town, are always broke ? I can give you a few reasons why. No plan for today, tomorrow or the future.
