From the DLS website, click gateway then click on cities and towns free cash calculations.
This is information at the bottom of the Free Cash Calculation form that was submitted March 25, 2014 and it shows a deficit of 26 thousand dollars so how again did these selectmen feel good about repeating this 750 thousand dollars in free cash coming and the books are all good?
Feel free to believe what you will, I will choose the data/information available.

Here is one for you. I was asking around about the tdc on why the land just got all reposted and under fernald group ??i guess court has ruled that 900 acres is not state property it is the property of this group !! Well just browsing the tax laws on non profits. The only way they can be tax exempt is there land must be for public use Hummm. Did I say years and years of back taxes. I might be totally wrong which I'm sure I am. Lol
ReplyDeleteHi Mike,
ReplyDeleteAsked the Assessor's for a copy of that ruling in favor of Friends of Ferncol. I have it somewhere.
Friends of Ferncol is a non-profit so they would not need to pay real estate taxes BUT I believe they would have to pay personal property tax.
As I understand it the friends of fernald is different The fernald group is out of Boston and there are a lot of big names attached to that organization !!! So if the courts ruled that they own the land and there not making it public they owe the town taxes. But I'm sure there is a loop hole somewhere that let's them get away with it
ReplyDeleteWhat brought this all on was the state allows bow hunting up there for deer and turkeys. But if the state don't own the land where does it leave us hunters. According to the state wildlife web site to this day hunting is allowed on there newly posted land
