Templeton Fire Chief contract not to be renewed, which means that at least three selectmen have agreed to not do that. Considering what has been done that last few years, there has to be a pretty interesting reason not to do it. It could always be "the good ole boys" system raising it's head, which means a local people is gonna get the job, just because they local, that happens alot in small towns and not always in the benefit of the residents. Or the Town Administrator could have fired him and the selectmen backed him up on it, either way, it seems the fire chiefs days in Templeton are numbered.

At some point in time, the current Templeton fire chief will no longer work for Templeton and since there are usually several sides to a story, perhaps I can get the chief to tell me his side, as in the why, the who and the when. Because I believe there is a story there, how or why did a fire chief who apparently did what the Town and the selectmen wanted, ALS ambulance service in Templeton, the selectmen put the light on the fire department when Templeton was presented as a Heart safe community. It made the pictures when a new/used fire truck came to Templeton without taxpayer money. So I think there is a question there, why not renew his contract?

  5. Ask this question. Why does he leave the cheifs truck at his residence and take his own personal truck to work ??

Last Friday he spent over two hours at medstar in Leominster eating burgers on your dime folks

    Just my opinion

    1. Mike, if that is all you can report, so what ?? You never goofed off on Town time ? I heard our Administrative Assistant was in Market Basket on Town time. Maybe the children who work for the Town need a time clock, just to keep them honest.

  6. Hardly the first municipal employee to do such a thing. Oh, Mike, the fire chief is not my hero, all I think should happen or should have happened is an explanation from the powers at be, that could have been as simple as the current fire chief will not be reappointed or rehired, but as usual, you have to wonder or go out and try to piece it together yourself. Now back to eating burgers on taxpayer dime, I once spoke to the police chief about an officer being in Gardner at a dunks at 4 A.M. and his response was this, "you want me to tell a man with 20 years on the job he can not get a coffee?" I said yeah, not with a cruiser during a shift in another town. All Town employees should drive their own pov to and from work and only use a Town vehicle when involved in Town or emergency work. That means you drive from your home to the fire station and get in the department truck or whatever and go to work, end of story. Problem is it is very hard to convince all selectmen and some residents of that.

    1. Driscoll has a Town vehicle and it has nothing marked on it showing it belongs to Light/Water, that carts his big butt to work and back from home.

  7. How many Templeton Highway vehicles does it take to sweep the street?
1 sweeper, 1 10-wheel dump truck to wet down the street, a front end loader and a second 10-wheel dump truck to offload the street sweepings.

Mike if the chief was fired they would not let him keep the chief car as it belongs to the Town.
So your story does not hold water. Try again
