If you are keeping track, Templeton is now looking for a DPW director, a fire fighter/Paramedic, an assistant town accountant, assistant town treasurer/collector. It looks like Templeton should have it's own window or signup desk at the local employment office.

Also, after watching last night's selectmen meeting, these selectmen do not seem  interested in helping out the people they are suppose to serve and work for.

If you wish to open or run a business in Templeton, bring your citizenship papers with you and be able to prove you have experience in something that you wish to try, you know, invest your time and money into, because at least one selectmen, Haley Brooks, thinks you have to have experience before you can run a business, involving your own time, money etc. Maybe that should be a requirement to be a selectmen?

Fellowship individual, Eric Pollitt is moving on, so add to the list of employees leaving Templeton.
I wonder what the common denominator is that is causing so many to leave employment in Templeton.

    Haha

Poor working conditions lack of money and job security

It’s hard to put faith in to the town when it’s circling the toilet bowl !

    1. The fact is the "money" being paid to our help is nothing to sneeze at ! Don't fool yourself by listening to Carter's spin, that the Town does not pay well. It is not true. In fact we are paying good money when some of employees are not certified ! How long did we pay our last treasurer/collector when this person was not paying bills on time and pretty much contributed to our $300k. audit problem ?
I do believe this person would be still sitting in the Town office building if the audit people did not just about demand she be removed. So if you are sitting on the present Board of Selectman, Congratulations, you are doing a hell of a job !

  2. Jeff, It's far worse than that and this speaks to a serious management issue. This is our town government situation right now as I see it.

    Zoning Board of Appeals (Associate)
    Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
    Economic Development & Industrial Corporation
Baldwinville Elementary School Disposal Advisory Committee
    Housing Authority

Are we going to wait till we have nobody to turn the lights on before we admit we have a problem.

Management Fellow, Assist Accountant, Assistant Treasurer/collect, DPW Director in how many months? You had 5 of 7 Advisory Members resign or refuse re-appointment and you have 15 committees looking for close to 25 or so people.
No businesses coming to town. Hell, we are wide open for marijuana business but nobody is even inquiring yet local communities like Winchendon, Gardner, Barre, Rutland are all getting activity.

Why.................I say it's time for Carter and his crew to retire from Templeton.

  3. Yes , let’s set the time machine back to ...... wait .... I believe Templeton has been upside down since well, let’s just say the 1920’s for argument sake. When any small town was built up to prop up and socialize the costs of infrastructure ( water, sewer , electrical... and by extension roads and bridges , housing ) and that industrial base takes all their profits and leaves for cheaper help and cleaner pasture this is always the result.
No one in this town or any other in Massachusetts ( or other states ) cared. The money was flowing , things were new .. no repairs needed .. coffers full of cash ... what looked like clean air and water. Jump to 1980’s —- just starting to feel the squeeze ... still no change even till this very momment.
To make comments and suggestions of going back to people ( many whose relatives are the producers of these very issues ) is well ... Like I’ve said Templeton - home of the perpetually stupid.

  4. Speaking of last nights meeting. A thought crossed my mind regarding the reality for Templeton taxpayers.

When those two ladies came in and asked for the loan forgiveness and discussed the problems with the roof did anyone from Town Hall sit down with them and say " How can we help these taxpayers resolve the problem" or did they scramble and look for a method to duck and cover and deflect responsibility and therefor any assistance. If the meeting from June 18 regarding Laurelview gives us any clue its..............

  5. Yes Jeff, asking why so many are leaving is a vital question to get answered. I would suggest equally important is why haven't we been advertising for the vacant positions? We just lost the replacement for the TA whose contract expires in 3 months or so. Are we looking. Out of this entire list only FIRE/EMS is listed on MMA.ORG...........are these people suppose to fall from the sky?

You forgot no one took out papers to run for Cemetery commission or Board of health

  7. After the abuse Mr. Spring and I took, why on earth would anyone sign up to do any thing ? People are not that foolish ! I knew the man who's roof was not repaired right. He was a wonderful man. I am so very sorry his daughters were treated so badly ! There is no excuse for that nasty attitude they encountered. No thought of meeting with the Bldg. Inspector to look into the problem they have encountered ? I think that is called the "bums rush"! Your town authorities working for ?
