Why are so many towns having to ask for overrides and when they do not pass, things have to be cut? The answer is the state makes all kinds of mandates and then do not pass the money along to fund them, education is a good example, mandatory education along with all the requirements, but no money follows. The state is busy funding all their pet projects but not funding the mandates they put on towns. Prop 2 1/2 is not the problem, the governor/state legislature is the problem! I thought the millionaires' tax was going to pay for education and transportation, roads & bridges. There is money going for optional community college but not mandated elementary and secondary education.

Templeton has employees who spend money recklessly. Take the electronic message boards as an example. That's reckless spending of "grant" money that permanently increases overhead.

Since the Regional School District model was created the State has not made good on one simple promise made to entice Towns to create a Regional School District.
The State hasn't fully funded Regional School Transportation in over 70 years as the promised.
All regional school districts should file a claim against the State for 70 years of back payments.

You're right, 8:07. But don't think for a moment that the Gansett budget assessment to Templeton would decrease were the state to assume all transportation costs.

"So, as a result of the district-wide vote, the Town of Templeton needs to 'find' $1.1 million," Bennett said. "There are different ways to do it, and that will be discussed at a meeting of the Select Board on Aug. 10."

You should have started cutting the budget in May. Instead you have over a month of drunken sailor spending.

How are those bids for the wasteful. 3 sided carport coming in? Another example of dimb fonancial decisions and policy.
