How much revenue has Montachusett TV brought to Templeton?
An enterprise fund is supposed to function or pay for itself off of generated revenue. So, if revenue is around 100 thousand dollars per year, that should be the budget you live with!
It's always a problem when government views tax money as "revenue". It is all taxes. TCTV takes money from the cable TV provider. It comes from a tax on your cable TV bill. Why should Templeton collect tax on cable? Dump the tax and boot Castle to the curb.
Motachusett TV, the Digital signage is not why I supported TCTV for years. It's the meeting coverage.
I dont know who told Who that TCTV was an Economic Development Tool, but did these people look around and see what's happening to commercial news, TV, etc..........TCTV has gone down the rabbit hole most people hate, trying to generate revenue by placing ads on everything. Do you want to pay $100,000 for 2 signs that are going to run ads? I dont! I have ad blockers on my browsers, I pay for ad free TV, and I dislike junk mail. Remember, to place ads on these signs we need to have employees creating these ads, placing them, maintaining the signage and continually paying for electricity. The signs will have to be shoveled out so access can be maintained and how many accidents will be caused by distracted drivers. Non of these items are explained in the prepared request. When asked all you receive is "hope and dreams" no factual proof of concept.
I do not support the present course of TCTV and without change I fear it will be destroyed trying to make it a commercial TV operation.
Don't get into the jam Athol is in. They have an aggressive Fire and Police Department. They're big into the Ambulance shenanigans. Just leave ambulance service to private responders. Insurance covers ambulance without tax expenditure. And whatever you do, don't emulate our former Fire Chief in Winchendon.

You mean the Fire Chief who was on our Advisory Board and maybe Capital planning for a while.
ReplyDeleteTo expensive!!!
We have no crime, no fires and lots of Ambulance calls.
Steve Castle and Chris Casavant should be friends. They both like big signs.
