Pete, Pete and repeattttt.
Just read weekly town administrator report. Under fire dept., it is the same message for 5 weeks in a row (must be good execution)
Apparatus/equipment: 4 gas meters from ladder 1 still out of service for repairs, Engine 2 out of service for normal oil change and service work. While returning from service work Engine 2 developed fuel and oil leaks. It remains out of service for repairs. Engine 3 light tower is out of service for repairs. The truck itself is in service.
Capital planning is meeting so like last year when Chief Dickie posted that Tanker was permanently out of service for 9 months then miraculously it is back in service right after Capital planning makes their determination.
ReplyDeleteDPW is back to buying 10 wheelers after trying 6 wheelers for a few years so we bought an entire cycle of trucks that aren't being traded in when we replace them.
TA has been taking ex police vehicles and using them as town cars which destroys the "savings" we are trying to garner by replacing them in cycle. Now we just push the maintenance we saved from police onto the town maintenance costs..............
Look at our surplus items.............most of that stuff is just junk.............nothing that's being purposefully cycled out of service, but junk left hanging around for years.
1- 8 year old vehicle, then next is 13 yr old vehicle, 14 yr old.............nothing we've bought since 2015 is being surplused.
None of Dickies 5000' of hose
no other replaced equipment
No police items
no dpw trucks we've bought since 2016
no fire vehicles we bought and replaced........
We are like a town of hoarders and thieves...............stuff just disappears..

DeleteThe tanker you’re referring to is a brush truck tanker with a 1000 gallon tank , old military 5 ton . Has blown motor and is still out of service. If I am not mistaken the truck that the new Engine 3 replaced was taken as part of the deal. Have a good weekend Dave LaPrade
Your probably Dave..........without a proper inventory throughout town its tough to call.
DeleteWhen I questioned it in Spring 2022 I was told it was back in service..........lol
Mr. Laprade,
DeleteCan you explain to me why the Forestry 2 that you mentioned, that has been permanently out of service since August 2022 or so is not being surplused in our present auction over a year later?
Bob
DeleteI am not 100%sure but I believe it’s a military vehicle and needs to go back to them. Hopefully that helps Dave
If the town got any trucks/vehicles from state federal government or military and if anyone thinks the process is the truck/vehicle has to go back to them, well, contact them and let them know the town will be returning the truck. I would be interested in hearing their response.
