What is the $11.64 per day ?
ReplyDeleteIs that the detailed line items you have access to using the VADAR system?
ReplyDelete$11.64 per day is how much a modest home in Templeton will cost in 2018 property taxes. Without any override. To put in terms Queen Bee's peeps understand, that's a few DD coolattas per day, plus a couple coffees from Cumby's.
ReplyDeleteCould you please do out the math. From a quick look you appear to be saying a "modest" house in Templeton is assessed at $254,000.00?
DeleteZillow shows the median home value in Templeton as $221,000 after increasing 6.2% this past year.
I'm probably being to an*l, but at the $225,000 number its about $10.30 a day, $309.00 per month and $3708.00 per year. That is using the present $16.72 tax rate.
US zipcodes.org has a median listed home valued at $225,000.
No not at all if I am wrong about the 200,000 I am sorry. For me personally $254,000 is not a modest home , but I am well over 50 too !
DeleteGood examples I suppose my daughter had a home next to her in Gardner . On line estimated value 278,000 . It was not kept up and sold this spring for 198,500. Another complicated topic !
DeleteFound an article - thought of you Bob M ..
Deletehttp://www.capecodtimes.com/news/20180321/bourne-officials-balk-at-pot-ban
I’m not following what you’re saying. Is that an increase in the selectmans budget / stipend ? I’m understanding they don’t have one.
ReplyDeleteYour tax rate now is 16.72 1000 even if you took a huge leap of say 2.00 ! + home ( avg is 200000) that’s 3,724.00 ? Not 4,248.60 #math
ReplyDeleteIf I’m wrong let me know
I got my information here just to clarify :
Deletehttps://www.bestplaces.net/city/massachusetts/templeton
As well as here just to clarify again https://www.trulia.com/real_estate/01468-Templeton/
DeleteI’m trying to follow here . Every 1.00 on a take bill is generated of 1000.00 valuation. So 1.50 an avg 200,000 home is 300.00 per year.
ReplyDelete300.00 per year or 82 cents a day which is about what it cost me to make my coffee at home.
A modest home is what I said. A valuation of $240k is a modest home.
ReplyDeleteI remember someone saying that they had a $240,000 home not too long ago. maybe it’s that person this person is speaking of.
DeleteThat’s your definition not mine. The basis for your taxes is averages - avg for temepletom is 200,000 as well
ReplyDeleteThats not an explanation of the increase in the 5100 account either or is it ? Since VADAR as I heard it explained the AC can down open further into 5100 to see if I’m correct.
DeleteAfter much fanfare on this blog of wanting discussion on policy, I have to assume that this is not happening. The only fact based questions and responses are by those who do not have a direct connection to the adminstator of this blog .
DeleteThe exception to that for me is Bev, who seems to me a person genuinely concerned in particular of the seniors and the town. I may disagree with her but she has not put out any inflammatory or deliberately misleading comments.
I will as well as my friends continue to follow along. Past is Prologue
Im still hoping myself memory deficit for more debate and discussion on : “
ReplyDeletePart of this issue is 'where does it stop?' Do all of the doors, inside and out (offices, bathrooms, closets) at town hall need this type of automatic door? Do they need back up generators in place to work each door in case of emergency?”.
Hey memory loss - just for the record, there are many senior citizens who pay their own way. They're not looking for free transportation. Not looking for social services and gubmint meals. Not looking for a publicly funded senior center. We keep ourselves busy. We're just trying to live and pay our ever-increasing property taxes!
ReplyDeleteSo Christian if you anon 7:05
DeleteOf , sorry for typo
DeleteGreat to know seniors are so active. My concern really is not with those that have but those that don’t.
ReplyDeleteYou're exclusively concerned with the grasshoppers. What about the ants?
ReplyDeleteMy comment was “ I’m not really “ , not I’m “ exclusively “ . I’m concerned with those that are homebound, have no other family close , cancer patients potentially that have no other assistance. If your concern is elsewhere as I see it is that’s your position to advocate from.
DeleteWhat’s perhaps more concerning is that venom spewed from those that should know better.
I’m just as concerned as the president is about “ ants “ .
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:11 - that's worn out and does not speak to the issue. The fact is, not all senior citizens are supporters of the senior center.
ReplyDeleteI never implied they were. If you can provide that comment I will gladly eat my hat and apologize.
DeleteAny actual fact based data ? On how many “ not all seniors “ support the center ? Or it it just a comment from the internet of thoughts ?
DeleteAnon 7:22 obviously doesn't know the fable of the grasshopper and the ant. What cultural ignorance!
ReplyDeleteWhy yes I do actually - I have read the ant who works hard never stops . the grasshopper who sings away not a care in the world . Then when the summer ends that grasshopper needs help from ants . Am I correct ? Or perhaps you have another version.
DeleteNever a dull moment on this blog of “ ideas and policy discussions “ . Since we are in fairy tales .. has anyone ever read “ don’t let the pigeon drive the bus “. ? Funny book highly recommend
DeleteFact: overwhelmingly, senior citizens in Templeton don't use the senior center.
ReplyDeleteTempleton is not a social service agency.
Don't attempt to lump all senior citizens as supporters of the senior center. Don't attempt to tell the lie that most seniors use the center. It's not a worthwhile expense.
I recall back in twenty 14 that there was a check presented for I think ? $ 300,000 grant ( or tax money as it’s referred to here ) . Earmarked for the senior center I think ?
DeleteAnyway, I remember also a photograph with a big ole check and the Senator and others looking happy.
I also remember the senior center debt exclusion was paid for in one year. - and well it really was helped by that grant. All good though! Templeton seniors have a great place and I enjoy seeing them up there happy and with folks that care.
DeleteI challenge the so-called director to publish data on how many different Templeton residents use the Senior Center regularly.
ReplyDeleteThe reason you don't see that data is simple. Because usage is low.
How many different Templeton seniors utilize the senior center? I don't care how many times the same people badge in.
You seem to be such an angry bitter person honestly. I feel compassion for you sir/madam.
DeleteMay do you good to go to s senior center, or hospital or perhaps nursing home or hospice to get a broder view . Happy Easter
I challange anon 7:44 am to .. . please publish data to support your argument that participation in a senior center should be the economic primary, secondary or tertiary factor for determination of its efficacy.
DeleteI don’t believe “ overwhelming “ is a criteria for use of such a service/facility. As discussed on YOUTUBE TCTV ( in the room with advisory caommittee ) the director broke down actual statistics - very impressive for such a small rural community.
ReplyDeleteThe other comments are actually just more inflammatory rhetoric by you sir/madam and has been responded to by me or other people here as - inaccurate or just flat out lies.
Past is prologue - was a correct call
Publish data showing what percentage of Templeton seniors use the senior center.
ReplyDeletehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lies,_damned_lies,_and_statistics
Data as to how many times the same dozen people badge in is baloney.
There's lies, damn lies, and statistics.
Obviously they are the same elderly person 12 times ! I mean right ? Next up - the earth is not round why because I’ve never seen it with my own eyes.
DeleteMem Loss 7:48 - deflect, deflect, deflect when facts don't support your opinion.
ReplyDeleteanon 7:52 am are you the lawyer for trump ?if not maybe you should apply on indeed.com or monster idk ? He needs another one !
ReplyDeleteWhat does Phillipston spend on senior services? I think Templeton, with 4X the population, should spend 4X as much.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you bring up Phillipston ? You concerned with the 3 people ( 1 recently deceased - daughter drove her there , 1 who stitches and volunteers her skills/time and 1 a veteran ) as stated in open budget testimony by senior center director ( asked by selectman Edwards I believe - YouTube TCTV )
ReplyDeleteI didnot know templeton residents > 50 can and do participate in other towns senior centers activities . That’s such a wonderful thing ..
Many point to Phillipston as both astute and compassionate. We can use their amount, times 4, with confidence we are doing right.
ReplyDeletePhillipston also has a finace board that works with the town and school committee. What a novel idea. Also has wonderful comments from their commitee members, boards and citizens as witnessed in the TCTV joint selectmens meeting.
ReplyDeleteAnd with all that erudite participation, they decide to spend how much on their senior center? 4 X $0 = $0
ReplyDeleteWhy the concern over a neighboring town ? A town with < 1700 people. A town with which you share I suspect family and friends. A town with which your depts work with to help all citizens.
ReplyDeleteThe anger on this blog ( not representative of templeton - that I assure you ) is disturbing. Please remember people outside the area read your blog - signals are strong enough to get out of your tin foil encased basements.
Answer the question. Why is Phillipston astute and compassionate with $0 budgetted for senior center? Why can't that be appropriate for Templeton as well?
ReplyDeletePhillipston don’t have floooride. Idk ?
DeleteAnon 9:22 - you admire Phillipston and their process. So you are ok with zero budgetted for a senior center? Explain why Templeton should spend more, please.
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry is this the PHILLIPSTON WATCH page ? Phillipston is not my town. I have no right to speak to their budget as I suspect you wouldn’t want Phillipston to speak up on yours.
ReplyDeleteI think others here like memory deficit have said it well.
Apparently, you sir/madam of perhaps the town of templeton want to eliminate the senior center budget all together ( mart funding already figured of course ). The proposal for reductions is 1/2 of the year for meals on wheels. Not any other cuts that I’m aware of. However, since you brought up the subject of zero appropriations for templeton senior center ..I suspect that is your goal.
Anonymous 11:55 must be naive to expect an answer to that question. Expect a non sequitur, accusing you of hating puppies and voting for Hitler.
ReplyDeleteEternally optimistic - must be Easter
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:16 is proving Anon 12:19 to be right. Criticize Temleton, praise Phillipston (someone called them Phree loaders). But won't speak as to why they budget zip for seniors while Templeton must spend big bucks.
ReplyDeleteIdk . Any kind of record as to who was on the commitee say in 2014 ? Must be. Also, I seem to remember A LOT OF grant money being paid by taxpayers ( NOT ALL IN TEMPLETON ) being presented .
DeleteI’m sure these commnets as well will not be of any use to those who have to negotiate with our neighbor. This is page directed to the general public, and the top of the posts are a therefore a direct representation of the person of this blog.
DeleteAs a citizen he/she has a right - but please understand that when you think of who is “leading” you in their town capacity.
I never seem to hear this vitriolic speach when the camera is on or a state elected official is present either. - abandon all hope
Looking at Phillipstons webpage it shows the Phillipston COA provides 2 lunches in March.

DeleteTranslation of 1:06 pm post is "I have nothing substantive to say regarding why Phillipston is wise for spending zero. I will attack the person who speaks this inconvenient truth."
ReplyDeleteI don’t know probably the same reason Royalston don’t have one ? Just a guess.
