State agencies, municipalities, and non-profits can buy surplus equipment and furniture from the State Surplus Property Office (SSPO) for a nominal administrative fee. The SSPO is part of the Operational Services Division (OSD), the state's procurement agency, and manages the distribution of usable state property from all state agencies. By redistributing unwanted equipment, the Commonwealth reduces its disposal and operating costs.

This type of activity would fit right in nicely with a complete inventory of Town equipment. It is my belief that we need a complete, detailed list of all town properties. The present list of items from the Capital Improvement list is incomplete.
ReplyDeleteWatch the meeting. It was mentioned that the town has 5 sanders. The Capital Improvement list only has 3 listed.
There is a saying that goes "if you can't measure it, you can't fix it". I mention this because as a town we cannot plan spending when we dont have an accurate list of what we own!!
My other concern is why are we finding out about poor winter equipment conditions in August and not in March?
Bob.M. you are right. Why get into this now, when it should have been dealt with much earlier. When will we learn ? Never, sounds like the right answer. Maybe we should put our plowing and sanding out to bid ? Where is the money coming from to fix or replace all of the equipment we have that is bordering on junk ??
DeleteBev. I see this as a failure to plan. Look at how the town has dealt with the Capital Improvement Committee over the past many years. It never had a quorum. Was unable to do its job and few cared. I believe with a functioning CIC with accurate information we could greatly improve the towns working equipment without overrides, stealing from peter to pay paul and the like.
ReplyDeleteWe need to start planning and being proactive rather than always being reactive. In Templetons recent past the Tail has been wagging the dog.
is there any military trucks available for free ??
