After reading the Templeton weekly report from town administrator, I have to think about is this coming to Templeton?
Officials in a suburban Chicago community have issued municipal citations to a local news reporter for what they say were persistent contacts with city officials seeking comment on treacherous fall flooding.
It's the latest of several recent First Amendment dust-ups involving city officials and news outlets around the country, following this week's arrest of a small-town Alabama newspaper publisher and reporter after reporting on a grand jury investigation of a school district, and the August police raid of a newspaper and its publisher's home in Kansas tied to an apparent dispute a restaurant owner had with the paper.
When Government employees forget who they work for and under what Authority this happens. What have you seen your entire life from tyrants around the world, one of the first things they do is limit Free Speech, shutter the media, Tell their story.
ReplyDeleteIf you've been paying attention you'd have noticed that already taking place under Chair Michael Currie. Cutting transparency in any way possible. You remember when He tried to put Capital Planning on Monday to avoid recordings right? A true believer in democracy. All while promoting Veterans. A true Government employee to the core. A man who rates the Administrator as average on employment review and immediately after it is made public, states He's Fantastic or similar words not meaning average..............
Wait till you see the reality of the warrant..........
Anyone who would even discusses limiting access has violated their oath. IMHO.
Keeping lists, publishing lists of those that question what you are doing with public funds.
Those of us with any sense of history understand this is failure, this is small minds trying to stomp out questioning while Breaking the laws they feel are beneath them.
Have you not seen the contempt this Board and Administration have for the Policies, Procedures and bylaws on Templeton books. Many voted on and approved by our legislature,
Our Selectboard has not done their job maintaining our Towns Administrative Structure. They have not enforced policy, procedure for the staff they directly supervise instead they collude with the Administration to keep secrets from the public. To divert attention from factual error that violate State Law.
Everything above is my individual opinion of Templetons present Seletboard
