Subject: debt/bond lead

The Advisory Committee requests a copy of the latest Debt/Bond Lead schedule. This request is made due to recent additions to Templeton debt; Sewer Pump Station, Water Tank replacement and the many BANs for the new school.
This request is made under the Templeton Town By-laws, article IV, section 5 (Advisory Committee).
Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

regards;
Jeff Bennett
Chairman, Advisory Committee

Article IV - Advisory Committee of Templeton general by-laws states:
Section 5. In the discharge of its duty, said committee shall have free access to all books of record and accounts, bills and vouchers on which money has been or may be paid from the town treasury. Officers, boards, and committees of the town shall, upon request, furnish said committee with facts, figures, and any other information pertaining to their several activities.

What part of that is not understood by the Town Administrator, the selectmen and in this case, Town Treasurer?

  1. IF I was reading this without any history I would say, "sounds like the Administration is trying to create a systems of organizing, managing request. This would make very good managerial points as "How can he manage what he doesn't know?"

    It would seem that a memo, letter, or flow chart would be a more efficient means to spread the word if it was "official".

    My history and the lack of memo tells me its more of a "hinder the Advisory Board" approach than management efficiency.

    Either way the information needs to be supplied in an efficient manner based on the by-law. Advisory request, Administration supplies...........no questions should be needed.

    1. A stall tactic, or someone needs more time to edit what the A.C. has requested, or maybe this information is not available ? Seems this should not take a great effort, seeing this should be public information ! Lots of new people moving into town, and a lot of people fleeing.. I hope these new people are not just making the payment, and that they will be able to absorb the cost of our new school and that police station ! Time will tell !

    2. It would help if the T.A. would stick to his job description. I do not think minding the Sewer Commissioners business is his job. Refusing to pay people what has been approved by the S.C. and Town Meeting is looking for trouble..Ever wonder why the account for Town Council is going to need more money ? I think you can read between the lines. The idea that Town Hall has enough to take care of, is about right ! Still no Certified people on our Finance Team ! Credit goes to LuAnn for doing her job, and actually being "certified" ! Our government in action !

  2. Why would Sewer ever want to be connected to the TA/Accountant or T/C and non produce reliable numbers.

    1. Given the time the Sewer Commissioners have spent on running a good department, the last thing the Commissioners and their sewer users need, is someone to gum up the works !
