I think Hellen Keller plowed Hubbardston road @Templeton
When you're so upset that you tweet at some random guy across the world about your town's roads not being plowed
Perhaps that tweet is frustration and the last resort, in hopes something will change. I mean Templeton highway was out and about on Sunday.
Yesterday was the first time Bart and I had left the house in about a week. South Road was awful. I am not one to complain but this sanding the middle of the road does not work. Snow had blown in from the field and there was no place to go to get out of the way when we met another vehicle. Scotts corner had three cars waiting for the school bus, and no place for the traffic and the bus on that corner. What a mess. Reminds me of the time all of the highway guys partied at the Otter River Sportsmen's Club. Well it snowed and it was supposed to warm up. No one plowed. Then it rained and froze. South Road was 6" ruts for weeks after that. To save a dime, that could cost someone their life, is it really worth it ? The way I figure it, I pay almost 1,000. a quarter and getting the road plowed is the only thing I get for my money. Bud would not have left such a mess. Where is the water going when the snow starts to melt ? Bev.
ReplyDeleteJC says that Alan and the highway dept. is doing such a good job - (from Utube state of the town). JC has said that employees should not be bad mouth by any board/committee i guess he did not tell Cam that.
ReplyDeleteI think Helen Keller would have done a much better job.
ReplyDeleteEvery street and road in Templeton looks like Tobacco Road. Lov, Lester, Jeeter and Dude should be paid a half sack of turnips for their efforts.

DeleteCan't blame the highway workers because the roads have been a mess. I do believe they can only do what the boss tells them to. So what the point of doing a half ass job ? I have seen the highway loose the road. The snow drifts were so high it took a bulldozer to open it up. Dave does a real good when he plows. I do not think he had a choice of what schedule to keep. Did the highway boss have the luxury to call the shots ? That is the real question. Bev.
DeleteParliamentary inquiry - who is “Dave” ?
ReplyDeleteIt is funny, my husband says the same thing. Bart said "this town cannot afford to fix all of the roads, they will be dirt before that happens" At least if they were dirt, you could grade them. I truly think if any of you think this town will be able to fix the roads to meet any decent standard, you are suffering from delusions. For too many years the way the selectmen saved money was by forgoing any repairs. Try playing catch up and see how far you get. It does not seem like the state will be handing out much chapter money if the budgets get tight. Oh yes, in the past that money has been misused, also. Go figure !
Delete1800Mr.Plow, sorry, Dave works for the town. I think the remark about how someone else feels is a bit unfair. I can only imagine how it feels to get criticized for something you can't control. He has a good idea of what truly needs to be done, just as I have my own opinion of the total financial picture of this town. As long as he does his job, his attitude is his own and his right. I did not mean to single him out, sorry. The majority of the people who work for this town do the best they can with what they have to work with. My opinion, Bev.
DeleteMy point is that as long as people do not attend Town Meetings, and do not pay attention you will get the government you deserve.
