I wonder how many Tempeton residents are aware of the fact the there is no real accountability of their money/ A document put out by the Templeton Town accountant, supposedly showing appropriations from town meeting and how much has been spent, but there are no real clear names or identities of places or things on which this money has been spent. There was a time when it was clear, plain and simple, such as how much has been spent on health insurance for town employees or how much each town employee makes. No more, as is apparent that the current board of selectmen and especially Diane Brooks, wishes to keep this information hidden from the very people who pay the bills; you, the taxpayer. I wonder why that is?

Is it because DHB gets money from the town she does not want people to know how much?
ReplyDeleteDoes she think it is none of your business ? That is what I understand. Because the taxpayer pays the bill, it is their business. If workers for the Town of Templeton do not like it, then they should work for a private business.

DeleteFor many working in government, seeing their names and salaries displayed online im fairly confident in stating would be uncomfortable. Although most understand employment records are a matter of public record, asking whether they like that the information being disclosed to the public elicits a different response.
ReplyDeleteAfter viewing the BOS workshop . I see DHB does not know where the assault took place. there is a difference between LA and Las Vagas. It also seems that the Chairman of the BOS does not even make the AGENDA for meetings as the TA states at this workshop that he does the agenda for BOS meetings. that means that the TA is running the show and not the selectmen. This is not how town government works

THats a lot of money ! For avg of 2 business days a week. just saying . what do the selectmen do now anyway?
ReplyDeleteEvery time I watch the AC meeting I hear about overspending in town accounts. How are they able to spend more than they have?

ReplyDeleteJust about facts. DHB did say not to publish salaries. and she does get money from the town as a worker at the polls.
fact #2 she did say a moment for people in LA at the start of the workshop.
Oh you don't go to town meetings or selectmen meeting either right. you don't even watch them when they are taped. Watch the workshop and you can see for yourself what she said.
Municipal salaries are public record - look at today's Gardner News, all of Gardner's salaries are listed there from the mayor and city councilors to the animal shelter attendants!
