So, there was an open meeting law complaint dropped off at Town hall yesterday. The Town Clerk and the selectmen office. It is in response to perceived improper posting of executive session meeting of the selectmen.
A question asked of the "Town" concerning the lack of information on two Templeton Town meeting votes involving money for OPEB funding. This item is missing from the monthly or quarterly budget versus actual documents that come from the Town Accountant. Why wolld the accounting of public money for health insurance payments and other benefits not be included in that report?
Apparently the pay scale and generous benefits package offered by the Town of Templeton does not keep people away. Two new employees at the Templeton highway department. Seems like the individual who made a comment about that situation did not or does not nderstand or know how things work, in my opinion.
For example, in the fiscal year 2018 budget book put forth by the selectmen, it shows health insurance costs; it has highway employee dave smart having the plan HMO blue vale plus - family at a monthly cost of $2094.07. According to the book, that is the monthly town cost for that option per employee. That is a 13.30% increase over the last year.
If those kind of increase trends in health insurance alone continue, something has to change. I mean where does the money come from? How long can the shuffle keep going? Time for the cost split to change and the 50/50 number should not be far off.
It seems something is very wrong when the AC cannot get a simple answer to a simple question. Where is the OPEB money ?? Something is bothering me. Why does the Administration keep hiring people, when we have no idea how we will end up until the DOR gives the news, when the final figures come in. If this whole show goes sideways, up and up our unemployment figures will go. Oh yes, what did someone say ? It's only pennies !! I just do not think it is fair to hire people just to lay them off.. Now, before the highway guys have a fit, I do know they have been short handed. I know they need help before winter comes, but Town Hall is like a overstuffed cabbage roll. It does make me wonder how Mrs. Richard produced a ATR, and handled all she did with a typewriter. Reports from every department, Town Clerk, Assessors, the whole ball of wax, done and done well.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that everything is fine, all good, but facts keep changing. Maybe Templeton needs to call 911.........pun intended.
ReplyDeleteSo Jefie i pay my 25% weekly 118.52 for the plan i use.
ReplyDelete118.52 X 52 = 6,163.04+ the book you quoted of 2094.07x 12 months=25128.84 combined 25% + the 75% = 31,291.88.
This number is obviously wrong and should be only 75% in the book as a town cost.
There have been insurance amounts wrong in the past and to see it again is no surprise.
The one fact i can add is what i see deducted from my pay weekly.
Questions need to be asked and answered as usual the step of doing so has been skipped!
No qualified applicants applied and with the snow soon to come the help we had interested were given the chance to prove they have what it takes to do the job.
Pay scale you should try for attracting help these days.
As for the generous Beni's they don't get till when?
You're uninformed as usual.
Oh where, oh where is the OPEB money?
ReplyDeleteOh where , oh where can it be?
Voted by the townspeople at ATM.
Oh where, oh where can it be?
Cut mohr trees down! Pay for everything with trees!
I wonder where the money will come from when the $50,000, for trees is short ? Oh yes, Carter will have the answer !! Oh crap, Carter will be no where to be seen ! Ironic, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteBevy that's what stabilization's are for like the E+D funds.

ReplyDeleteThe past will catch up every time. That would be a legit reason unforeseen for sure.
