What roads were done by the Towns ratepayers?
As we all pay our light bills it is our money they take credit for giving to the town.
I know of no road projects paid for by the TMLWP.

Look back to the older years before Jerry and Dana and gang took over the light & water. TLD would give $200,000.plus a year back to the town!!

    31,552.00 Town Roads

Looking at records and asking those who know it doesn't show where.
So if they did a road project where is it.
Dana and gang should know,i think?
Do they think the money they manage for the ratepayers and town are a gift from them?
They are the overcharges we "have" to paid in on a inflated electric rate.
With the reduction of power costs this year at 700,000.00 we should have one hell of a road project or a full refund of our over charges.
So what will the TMLWP do with our extra money this time.

Your bills are half what I pay at National Greed um Grid .... your service is 100% better than the small communities get from the Grid...they fix big feeders 1st where does that leave the little guy ? 8 days during ice storm no power cuz I dont live near hospital or school... you are very fortunate

    1. I agree Anon..... I do however feel that as we the ratepayers own TLP as a town should get an "owners share" at least.
I also think, but who cares, that the TLP should be responsible for all road trimming since its a requirement to maintain lines........

Thanks Bob I was expecting to get nasty response from haters yet got intelligent response ... obviously I dont have all answers but I know having your local Mass Electric based in London aint really working so count your blessings .. IDK if you want 100% responsibility to maintain lines then u have to give 100% authority to cut all trees .. electric comp hate trees (limbs/trees #2 cause of outages - #1 is animals poor squirrels usually via trees) and would love to cut em all down ... all in all u guys are fortunate for lower rates and better service

  6. Anon,

I agree completely. Could we get more from the TLP, maybe, but do we get good electrical service for a reasonable price, I think so.....

  7. Thankfully we are having conversations now. That's hasn't happened since I was elected. I said thank you. If all the ratepayers are so unahooy how come when I ask they say to leave it alone? How come there is no outrage at what happens and how much money they give or don't give? We have excellent service and compared to what my children pay in other towns, we have it great. The service we get is by far the best around. I am thankful.

Its BS that our rates are lower, Great service YES, but we are paying a premium with NO discounts or rebate programs

I respectively disagree.....my cost at National Grid per kwh supplier and delivery service is over $.20 per kwh and $5.50 customer charge each month ... I do also pay a Templeton Light bill and am always surprised its appears lower- I do apologize in advance if Im wrong as dont spend hours scouring over the bill ... I tend to believe documented info give/take few cents Utility:Cost:Rate
    Boylston $76.94 $0.1026 Littleton $79.04 $0.1054 Hudson $90.34 $0.1205 Shrewsbury $90.43$0.1206 Groton$91.24 $0.121 West Boylston $93.74 $0.1250 Holden $98.66 $0.1315  Sterling $101.99 $0.1360 Templeton $104.09 $0.1388 Ashburnham $108.53 $0.1447 Paxton $114.22 $0.1523
National Grid $148.28 $0.1977 Unitil$176.80 $0.2357 Princeton $179.63 $0.2395 ... the rebates you get from other the grid etc u pay for every month regardless of whether you ever use via these monthly expenses :Customer Charge: The cost of providing customer related service such as metering, meter reading and billing. These fixed costs are unaffected by the actual amount of electricity you use. Efficiency Charge: The cost of energy efficiency program services offered by the Company. Renewable Energy Charge: A charge to fund initiatives for communicating the benefits of renewable energy and fostering formation, growth, expansion and retention of renewable energy and related enterprises.Any rebates over a course of time does not even come close to what you have paid...My personal opinion I feel you have a good deal in comparison..

    1. The Department of Revenue told us in 2009 that we should have a PILOT with the Light Co. This would be a set figure that we could depend on from year to year, not what they will give us when they feel like it. A Pilot that the town could use where it is needed, or set aside if the day ever came that we were financially secure. It is not up to the Light Commissioners to decide how a PILOT is spent, it is up to the BOS Town Meeting. Bev.

    2. Thank you Bev. I think there should be a PILOT. IMHO the town should decide where the money goes. My vote would have been to put the money towards a new fire truck.

A PILOT is probably a good idea just don't get upset when your rates go up a few cents a kwh - you still will be getting a better deal than most for your money . You cant have your cake and eat it too. Its like social security - anytime there's an increase the cost of medicare goes up. Like it or not its reality.

No worries Dave ..well known fact u hate the electric company ....I just don't agree with your "facts"-- ahow me any yr TMLP was higher per kwh than Grid --- u have cost per kwh ? ...my grid bill is 500-600 a yr higher than it would be TMLP... I have paid Grid bills and TMLP bills for 25 yrs and my opinion is you have the better deal...again keep up the fight we all want lower bills...I hate my cable bill , my car insurance, uggh health insurance but it is what it it is...again I'm done commenting because people like you cant have discussions .. you don't want things to be better you want to be right ...which is unfortunate as I do think you care and want to help but your way of trying to achieve this is very counterproductive ..life is too short

  12. Nice opinion and we all get to have one.
As the TMLWP cost go lower and lower you will still be happy to be a little cheaper compared to others. They bank on people who think like you and they keep the price just low enough to keep the complaints low.
So did the unfunded liabilities even sink in. As we get a pass on the price they still don't fund what the other providers do and still others pay their investors.
Your customer charge is now 3.00 at TMLWP.
You got that from my work and and we should have no customer charge.
That amounted to 168k + per year when it was 4.00.
Facts are facts and people who just say it's cheaper without the whole story are misinformed as to the facts. There's more to the light bill if the rebates and other benefits are taken into consideration.
Take into account the problem for the school loan is debt.
    TMLWP debt!

I did not know Templeton had 16,800+ residential/commercial customers doing your math but with my 5.50 customer charge it is 40.00 a yr more just in customer charge than tmlp charges ... I can get that whopping 75.00 rebate for more expensive energy star appliance after paying $600 more this year .... to be honest what's killing small towns is not these issues its no commercial tax revenue ..and unfortunately we all love small town feel but how much tax/ other residual did you lose to Athol for Market Basket Plaza....NIMBY fight it then complain when no revenue coming in
